They are only little once

Why can’t they stay this small forever? Ask any parent and they will tell you to enjoy how tiny they are, because one day you’ll be dropping your baby off at school and wondering where the time went. This is why I love taking photos of newborn babies, so you can always treasure how small they once were as they grow bigger and bigger.

The best time to photograph your newborn baby is within the first two weeks of their life. This is when your baby is still in, what I call, the ‘sleeping beauty’ phase: all tired and relaxed. This allows me to wrap & position your baby in the beautiful ‘curled up’ poses you see on my website.

 FAQ’s

when should I book my newborn session?

It is difficult to choose a date for newborn sessions because all babies are different, and arrive on their own schedules. This is why my newborn sessions are booked onto a flexible calendar- which means that no matter if your baby is early or lateer than expected we can easily move your session's date later. For now, I recomend booking your session somewhere between 5-14 days after your predicted birth date, and we can move it later if we need to. I always recommend booking as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

What happens if my baby is early or late?

Don't panic - I have a solution! All my newborn sessions are booked onto a flexible calander. This means that if you baby arrives earlier or later than expected there will always be a studio space to move your session too. This is garenteed with ever booking so you'll never miss out.

My baby is already born. is it too late to book?

Ideally newborn sessions are booked within the first 14 days of your babys arrival. This is because around day 14, your baby will start to become more aware of the world around them, with wide open eyes and stretching legs. Its an exciting first stage of their developemnt however, it does mean that they arn't as comfortable in the tradtictional newborn poses.

However, I Completely understand that there can be many reasons why you might have not been able to book during these first 14 days and it certainly doesn't mean you need to miss out in taking photos of your baby! We can take newborn photos until up to 6 weeks of age.

Do you work on weekends?

All newborn sessions are Scheduled between Monday to Friday.

Are you trained in newborn photography?

This is a fantastic question which is not asked enough in this industry.

The short answer: 100% - Yes I am.

Newborn Photography is such a specialised genre of photography which takes a lot of skill and safety awareness. A typical newborn session can last between 3-5 hours and your baby will be with me for most of that time. I have been trained to handle & pose your baby safely by some of the worlds leading newborn photographers at workshops, both in person and online.

I practice safe posing techniques whilst putting the comfort and safety of your baby first. Your photographs will be taken in a safe, clean and comfortable environment.

Do you include family photos during the newborn session?

Yes - these photos will be really special for years to come as it is your first family photograph of everyone together. We will take one family photo and one with any older siblings. If you are looking to take photographs with extended members of the family, like grandparents, please contact me about a family session.

Who can attend the photoshoot?

I highly recomend the mother of the baby and a second person to help out with feeds and changes etc. I will of course help out as much as I can too.

If your newborn baby has older siblings, I recommend that they arrive at the beginning of the photoshoot. We will then spend the first hour or so photographing your family & sibling portraits. If possible, it is best if it can be arranged for the older siblings to be collected by a relative as the rest of the newborn photoshoot can be quite long for them.
